My dear brothers and sisters,
I'm going to speak to you this morning from this famous subject,
It
Was
Tight
Like
That.
As we find ourselves standing upon the pathway of life and
realizing the many difficulties through which we have come
and the many battles in which we have fought
against our enemies and the devil himself,
we can all truthfully say,
it was tight like that.
This seems to be a hard and tight world
we're living in these days.
It's getting so nobody won't
be bothered with you
Unless you've got something
to give them
Old friends don't want to
know you anymore
And new friends don't
want to meet you
And strangers don't want to be
bothered with you
And you'll find yourself in the
middle of a bad streak
Running tight like that, just pink
When a man is cold, hungry and dead
And ain't got no job
And you can't borrow any money
And your credit is no good
Your wife is bustling
And the strong and fine, brother,
will feel like to inhale when it's tight like that
Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy
Lord, have
My
God promised me a home
There is but one
God,
God
Almighty
My
God promised me a home
I have been warning you men and women,
that these hard times would come, when time would be tight.
Jobs would be hard to get,
and you couldn't get much money.
You should have made preparations for these hard times,
when it was tight like that.
But now, you've run through with all your money,
you've lost your job, and starvation is at your door.
Don't bring me your troubles now!
My
God promised me a home
There is but one
God,
God
Almighty
My
God promised me a home
Don't bring me your troubles now,
I can't use them
Bring me some money,
and bring along a few hams and chickens
It's money I want,
and money I must have
And a plenty of something to eat,
so I can satisfy
My gastro -pneumothorpe princesses,
when it's feist like that
Get ready, salvation is coming
Come down, you high -minded men
Don't let your money in your job, spend your head on a prodigal son, had plenty of money but he lost all he had,
when you type like that, don't try to be hooked or not.
It's all I can do now, but believe me when I think about the past,
this world won't hold me any day.
In my young days,
I had my time. I was tight like that.
Yes, mister, but you ain't
got nothin' on me.
How can you feel so happy,
Mr.
Loosey, when your house rent is due,
and your behind is your furniture bill,
and your large shoes are not paid,
and your behind is your pastoral salary,
and you have left no money, no friends,
Everything is tight like that.
What do you do?
Well, the past was everything just
tight like that. I just let the bills go.
I ain't gonna let nothing
set my soul to hell.
When I ain't got no money,
I got good religion.
Glory had it in me.
Yeah, religion's all right. I
wanna tell you all now.
When your bills are due,
oh, they shut the door.
And your friends all go home.
Everything is tight like that.
Better have some money in your pocket.
How do you feel,
when it's right back there?
Yeah, man!
Thanks for watching!
