Verse 1
from my mother

Rising up behind a greyhound
G

painted on a bus
Not sure if it's the memory
or just the picture Daddy drew

When I'd ask about the woman,
G

I don't think I ever knew
A
Water from the river,
G

whiskey from a still
Flowing through the blood
G

that I am spilling in this field
Daddy never owned the

dirt beneath his fingernails

were just enough to cover all our bills
But he swore one day he'd buy the land

so he cooked up in the hills

The men from up the river

Verse 2
Thank you. I wanted to put a couple of
songs on this project
from stuff we have released
and we don't have an acoustic version
of this anywhere
so I want to do this one.
Some of you have heard this story before.
When I was in, I think it was second grade,
and I think I know the teacher,
but I'm not positive,
so I'm not going to name any names.
I was out in the playground.
You know, I was a good little
kid.
I went through an F -word phase
in second grade.
But other than that,
I was a good little kid.
I don't think I was any good.
I don't know how good of a kid I was.
But in any case, this day, I decided
I was going to do something special
for my teacher.
And I went out in the playground.
I picked her a
bouquet of dandelions.
and I came inside and I gave
them to her
and she promptly informed me because
you know I'm in second grade
I'm very concerned
about biology
and species and classifications
and all that she informed me the dandelion is in fact
a weed
and she threw them away
and I know right say all
didn't try to get that in the album
it's very sad so anyways I
held up man
I still I'm you know shoot
but that was, oh man,
it was decades ago
and I still remember it.
So it come time to write a song one day
and I put that experience to good use
and I wrote Dandelion Woman.
Woo! Woo!
